My Summer 2016

Hi!

In this ocation I will write about my next summer vacations. This year, like no other, I will spend the end of year parties in another country: Honduras. Since August of this year, my father is working in Honduras for a period of one year. He work's for an NGO called SOS Children's Villages International and now he's on a international mission. He can't travel to Chile because he has a lot of work to do in a very short time, so my brother, his girlfriend and I, we'll be travelling in December 21st to spend Christmas and New Year with him, and then stay for some weeks.

Honduras is a beautiful country located in Central America, close to Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador. Also is one of the dangerous countries of the continent because of the substancial presence of drug dealers and the "Mara Salvatrucha", and international organization of criminal gangs. However, I think that Honduras is more than crime, there are amazing places associated with ancient Mayan civilization, like Copan, and also you can find places like Roatan Island or Gumbalimba park, where you can enjoy of wonderful nature landscapes.

By mid-February, my brother and I will be returning to Chile to spend some time with my mom and the rest of the family in the north, we're specting go to Iquique and enjoy the beach before the end of the summer.

I'm very exciting for my summer but I'm a little bit sad because before I was planning stay in Santiago with my friends and planned a trip together, but I think that I can do it the next year :)

(Me llamo) Sebastián

Hi!

In this ocation I would like to write about a singer that has become in one of my favourites chilean singers of the last time. His artistic name is "(me llamo) Sebastián", and his songs tell us about the respect to the diversity, that is to say, the understanding between all the human beings beyond their bodies, likes and dislikes, sexual orientation, etc.

The first time that I hear one of his songs I was listening the radio station "La Clave" in the car of my dad, and the song that were playing was "<3", that tell us about the differents kinds of love, and that there's not an only way to love. I remember that at the end of the song, I was very exciting to know more about him, and in that precise moment he was being interviewed on the radio station.

I like his music because he has an interesting mix of differents styles, and I like the lyrics, that have something of cotidian, rutinary, and a critical diagnosis about the contemporany society. Through their songs I've been more aware of how hard is live in a country were the hegemonic model of masculinity force to the men to be and act in a particular way, harassing to anyone that are outside the model. Like a girl that constantly lives the consequences of the machism, I've never felt so closer to the reality of hundred of men like hearing the songs of Sebastián.

That's the reason why I think he is an artist with and incredible potential and a lot of talent to show to the world. And that's why this post is on his honor. I love you Sebastián!

How green I am

A few years ago it was a little bit hard to find places where you can learn about enviromentally friendly practices, but with the warming global and the huge environmental damages that recently it start to show their consequences, it became popular the programms oriented to save the planet.
Considering this, is that nowadays is easy to find information and orientation about this practices. Internet is a great platform for this, you can find a lot of information about practices, organisations, etc.
Furthermore, the way that I choose to save the planet of contamination and that things, is for example, recycling paper. In the university I have to read a lot, and it's hard to me read from the computer or another electronic device. So all the paper of photocopies that I collect, at the end of the year I make a selection and all the things that aren't useful I recycle them.
With reference to ways of transportation, I wish to get a bike to go to the university but my family is afraid of the fact that I ride a bicycle in Santiago, and they have the money. But I use the public transportation instead of use a car.
I don't have extra time in the week, so be part of an eco-organisations or similar is hard in terms of availability.
I would like to learn more about recycling, trying new things like eco-ladrillos. But in the present I'm not as green as I would like to be. The municipal programms relatives to enviromental issues aren't efficient and we are unaware about the importance of care the environment.
